I started teaching 20 years ago, and in 2012 I went to Spain to train as an English language teacher. I love teaching students from Beginner to Advanced level. It’s wonderful to see them improve their English and become more confident every day. I really like working with students from around the world – I often learn something interesting too! I studied American Studies and English at university and have a PGCE and CELTA .

I joined Malvern House Brighton in 2021, and I also have experience teaching in Vietnam and Australia. I have taught General English of all levels, IELTS and English for Academic purposes. I also ran clubs for pronunciation, grammar, conversation and the job application process in a previous role. I really enjoy meeting people from other countries and learning about their cultures and languages.

My teaching journey started in 2013, and since then I have been lucky enough to work in several different countries, as well as here in the UK. Most recently, the majority of my teaching has been with adults, and this has included for general, business and academic purposes. I have also run a variety of workshops, debates and events, and always aim to help my students to contextualise and apply their learning to life outside of the classroom.

Despite studying maths at university, I've been teaching English students from around the world for nearly 10 years. I spent time as a teacher in Cambodia and Spain before moving to Brighton in September 2022. I love teaching all classes from beginner to proficiency especially to hear the different ideas and stories students can tell me.

I began working at Malvern House this summer. I love teaching the students here as they are polite, friendly and motivated. I am originally from Brighton and decided to return to live back here with my family after many years living and working overseas. I have both a PGCE and a CELTA so have taught both English literature and EFL. I have taught in many different countries throughout Asia and Europe but it is great to back in Brighton again!.

Philip

Director of Studies

I have been involved in language education since 2004, when I got my first teaching job in London. From the start, I loved the fact that every teaching day was different, and I really enjoyed learning new ways to support my students with their individual needs and goals. I completed a teaching diploma (Cambridge DELTA) in 2007 and an MA in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics in 2010. Since then, I have worked as a teacher, teacher trainer and academic manager and I am now excited to be working as Director of Studies at Malvern House Brighton.
