I started teaching 20 years ago, and in 2012 I went to Spain to train as an English language teacher. I love teaching students from Beginner to Advanced level. It’s wonderful to see them improve their English and become more confident every day. I really like working with students from around the world – I often learn something interesting too! I studied American Studies and English at university and have a PGCE and CELTA .

I joined Malvern House London in 2021, and I also have experience teaching in Vietnam and Australia. I have taught General English of all levels, IELTS and English for Academic purposes. I also ran clubs for pronunciation, grammar, conversation and the job application process in a previous role. I really enjoy meeting people from other countries and learning about their cultures and languages.

I’ve been a teacher since 1997, and I come from a family of language teachers. I studied English Literature and Linguistics, and specialised in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics. One of my lecturers inspired me to consider teaching English language as a way to deepen connections between people of different cultures. I went on to develop my skills with a CELTA course, and a Diploma in TESOL in 2015. Over the last six years, I’ve been teaching the Cambridge exams, such as the First, Advanced and Proficiency exams, and the IELTs.

I started teaching English in 2000 and have always loved my job. I really do love meeting people from all over the world. As well as in Brighton, I've worked in Portugal and Vietnam. Over the years, I've taught all levels and most English exams. I love teaching IELTS as I get a lot of satisfaction from empowering people to achieve their goals and IELTS can be life changing. I have a CELTA and a diploma in TESOL and I live in Brighton with my teenage daughter and I can't imagine living anywhere else. There's no other city in the UK quite like it

Philip

Director of Studies

I have been involved in language education since 2004, when I got my first teaching job in London. From the start, I loved the fact that every teaching day was different, and I really enjoyed learning new ways to support my students with their individual needs and goals. I completed a teaching diploma (Cambridge DELTA) in 2007 and an MA in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics in 2010. Since then, I have worked as a teacher, teacher trainer and academic manager and I am now excited to be working as Director of Studies at Malvern House Brighton.

I have held positions in academic, centre and operations management before arriving at Malvern House to take up the post of Sales and Student Services Manager in January 2022. In this role, I deal with all non-academic aspects of the student journey, ensuring everyone has the best possible experience during their time with us here in Brighton.
