One Minute English Lesson – IELTS Speaking Test

Need to know more about the IELTS speaking test. Here is a summary of Parts 1, 2 and 3.

Hello welcome to Malvern House in Brighton and welcome to your one minute lesson. Today we are looking at the IELTS exam, the speaking module.
How many parts are there to the speaking exam? Well there are three parts.
Part 1, the examiner will ask you questions about topics such as family, jobs, holidays free time. Part 1 lasts 4-5 minutes.
Part 2, you will be given a task card about a particular topic with prompts. You are given one minute t think about the topic and make notes on a piece of paper. Then you speak to the examiner for 2 – 3 minutes.
Part 3, you will have a discussion with the examiner linked to the topic in part 2. It’s a longer discussion, this part will last 4 – 5 minutes.
How can you practise for the IELTS exam?
Well there are plenty of practise materials online, you should practise with a friend or teacher and if you record your you’ll be able to play yourself back and assess yourself.
