IELTS is an internationally-recognised qualification in academic English, with very wide recognition throughout the world. It is a standard qualification for university entrance and some professional bodies, and also gives proof of your English abilities for employment and visa purposes.
We will focus on each skill individually as well as providing extensive exam practice and tuition focused on your language needs. By tailoring the preparation to your specific requirements, we can ensure you have the language and exam techniques to achieve success with your goals.
The IELTS qualification opens the doors to many academic and professional opportunities around the world.
- IELTS is an internationally recognised qualification that helps you to gain entry to university programmes, demonstrate your language level in job opportunities, and can even help towards gaining an entry visa to many countries.
- Preparing for the IELTS exam will also boost your confidence in using English in day-to-day situations – at school, at work, or socially.
In a typical class, our experienced IELTS course teachers will cover all sections of the IELTS exam in detail. Our teachers will also help you to understand how you can demonstrate your best English on exam day. We use a wide range of IELTS preparation resources, as well as practice tests to make sure that we focus on your personal strengths and weaknesses. You will also be given homework to study at your own pace in your own time to consolidate the learning points covered in class.
* How many hours do I need to study to achieve the score my university requires?
The length of your course depends on your current English level and the level your chosen university course requires. As every student is different, we would assess your current level before you start and then offer advice on the best course for your needs.
* How will I know that I am ready for the exam while I’m doing the IELTS course in Brighton’s Malvern House?
Our experienced teachers will be guiding you along the way, and will keep you updated with your progress towards your goals.
*Should I study the IELTS course only or choose a combination of IELTS and General English?
Again, this depends on your personal plans and needs – speak to us for a free consultation and our team will be happy to recommend the best course for your situation.
*What are the requirements to join the IELTS preparation course?
We are happy to accept any students to join our classes but as most students are studying towards IELTS 6.0 or higher, you will require a good knowledge of the language prior to joining the course. We may recommend that you join our General English programme first to reach a suitable level to then join the IELTS Preparation course.
*What does the exam test and how long does each part take?
There are four parts to the test: Listening (30 minutes), Reading (60 minutes), Writing (60 minutes) and Speaking (14 minutes). The total test time is 2 hours and 44 minutes.
* Can I take the exam in your centre?
The Brighton IELTS Exam centre is a short walk from our school.
*What is your students’ success rate from the IELTS preparation in Brighton?
We have helped prepare a large amount of students for the IELTS exam and we are delighted that most of our students achieve their goals with us. Our experience, knowledge and resources together with your commitment, enthusiasm and hard work will ensure you achieve your goals too!
* What is the difference between the IELTS Academic and IELTS General exams?
The Speaking and Listening components of the exam are exactly the same, but the Reading and Writing components differ between the Academic and General exams. This is so the subjects you read and write about are more relevant to your personal situation – whether you are studying for academic or general reasons.
